One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

PS: When the Bible said "Give and it shall be given unto you", it didn't mean just monetary and financial gifts. It was a seminar organised by Greg Secker's Trader's University.

If you know me well, you will know that I love attending seminars. Both free and paid ones. All the money I've earned in my short business life is due to what I learnt at seminars. Nothing from traditional schooling.

Attending seminars is a great way to learn things fast and also to network with different people in your field.

When was the last time you attended one? Make sure you look for one to attend as soon as possible. I don't know what your field and interest is but there will be something of value out there for you.

- Stock market?

- Real Estate?

- Internet marketing?

- Relationship buiding?

Make sure you attend one soon. If you're not yet successful, then you need to pay close attention.

Let's go...

Key 1: Stop dreaming

The world is filled with dreamers yet we've got very few doers. If you want to succeed in life, you have to start doing the things you believe will make you succeed.

Do you have a business idea? Then go out and do something about it.

If you don't do anything, you can never make it. Period!

Key 2: Invest your time

We've got only 24 hours in a day. Whether you're rich or poor, we all have the same number of hours to work with.

The Bill Gates and the Warren Buffets of this world had only 24 hours a day yet they made billions. It's what they did in those hours that made them all that money.

How do you spend your time? Especially your spare time. If what you do will not make you a successful person tomorrow, then you have to change

Key 3 : Seek information and help

To succeed in this age, you need information. Quality and life changing information I mean.

Recently, I was talking to a friend how I make thousands of dollars monthly by selling ebooks online and he was surprised that such a thing exists. He did not have the information. That is the difference between the two of us.

Always seek for information from the right sources. From people you admire, from the internet, investment and self development journals etc.

Then ask the poeple you come across how to apply such information. This is important because information without application is useless.

Thanks for your time today.

Akin Alabi

About Warren Buffet...

Hello again,

You'll love today's article...

There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion (85% of his fortune) to charity.

Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:

1) He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!

2) He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.

3) He still lives in the same small 3 bedroom house in mid-town Omaha , that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.

10) Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.

11) His advice to young people: Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself.

What A Great Man!

Talk soon,

Akin Alabi

=

Robert Kiyosaki "Fraud"

Hi,

In the last few years John T. Someone who is already successful and you hope to be like.

I've since gathered that one of the behaviours of successful people is that they picked one or a few role models to emulate. People whose thoughts and actions serve as a guiding light in their quest to become successful.

I've got lots of them. Dan Kennedy, Yanik Silver, Dele Momodu, Sunny Obazu-Ojeagbase, Ewen Chia, Stephen Pierce and more. All these guys have all made tremendous impact in my life.

But one of them stands out. And that's Robert Kiyosaki, author of the best selling book, Rich Dad Poor Dad. Through his books and audios, I've gained a lot of valuable information I've used (and still using) to improve my financial position.

I've embedded a video of Robert teaching his cash flow quadrant. I hope you'll find it valuable.

Thanks for your time again today and remember to pick one or more role models today.

Akin Alabi

=
=

We all need a push.

Hello again,

Today, I want to tell you a story.

Once upon a time, there lived a very rich man. He was so rich that he could afford anything he fancied. But the rich man had only one child. A female child. A beautiful one at that.

When the rich man's daughter grew up, many suitors came along the way asking for her hand in marriage. That was not a surprise though. She was every young man's dream. Beautiful, rich with the world at her feet.

Because of the number of suitors coming her way, she became confused and spoilt for choice. She decided to solicit the help of her father. Her father agreed to help her.

The rich man sent out a message to all her daughter's suitors informing them to gather at his mansion on a particular date. In the message, he said he would carry out a test for all of them and that the winner of the test will become his daughter's husband. Not only that, he would give the lucky man the sum of one million dollars.

On the appointed day, twelve able bodied young men gathered. They were all eager to emerge victorious so they could marry the rich man's daughter and also pocket $1million.

Then the rich man announced what the test was : all the "contestants" were to swim across his swimming pool and that the first person that comes out at the other end wins the contest.

All the men agreed it was an easy test and they all got prepared.

Then came the moment. The rich man asked them to get set and dive into the swimming pool at the count of three.

Just as he was about to count up to three, two massive crocodiles sprang out from the water. All
the men were taken aback. They retreated and slowly, they exchanged glances of fear and depression.

Then the unexpected happened.

One of the young men jumped into the pool. Everyone was shocked. He began to swim desperately. One of the crododiles approached him, he ducked. He swam past the second and he frantically reached the other end of the pool where he was pulled up.

The rich man was glad. The girl was jumping for joy. Everyone hailed his bravery.

"Congratulations my dear boy, you've just won the hand of my daughter in marriage". The rich man announced to the admiration of everyone.

The winner, still panting replied, " Sir, I'm no longer interested in marrying your daughter".

The rich man was surprised, but he calmed down and said, "you've been great today and you've also won $1million and I'm going to write your check right now."

The young man replied again, "Sir, I'm not interested in your daughter, neither am I interested in your money!"

The girl was dissapointed and the rich man was getting impatient. He then asked the young man, "if you don't want my daughter and my money, what do you want?"

The young man said, "I want to know the person that pushed me into the pool".

What can you deduce from this story? Don't you think a lot of us find ourselves in such a situation?

There are times when we see obstacles (crocodiles) on our ways to achieving great things. But
due to fear of being eaten up, we don't take action. Deep down in us, we know that if we face these obstacles, we have the capabilities of going past them, like the young man did.

So what are you waiting for? Do something about that dream you have in you and you'll discover that those crododiles are toothless. So push yourself and always surround yourself with people that will always push you.

Thanks for your time.

Akin Alabi

=
=

Make 2007 Your Best Year Ever!

Can you confidently say the year 2007 will be your best year ever? Do you think you can achieve all you desire for yourself this year? Do you believe the new year will bring you the success you deserve?

Lots and lots of questions.

If you ask me, I'll confidently tell you that everyone can achieve all they desire if they know what to do and how to go about it. I've compiled a few tips that will help you achieve all your fondest new year dreams.

1. Determine your goals for the year.

A lot of people go through life without determining what they actually want from it. They just work hard, live by the day and hope everything goes on fine.

That's a surefire way to fail! You have to determine what you actually want in life and in this instance, what you want to achieve by the time the year ends in eleven months time. I don't know what your goals are but you have to determine it.

2. Write them down.

This will sound ridiculous to a lot of people but it actually works. Write down your goals for the year and look at it everyday. You can paste it on your bedroom wall, dressing mirror or what have you. You can put it in your wallet and replace it everytime it gets old an dirty.

3. Work towards your goal.

How you'll work towards your goal will be determined by the nature of your goal. If your goal is to pass your examinations, you'll need to study dilligently for it. If you want to start a business, you'll need to learn how the kind of business you want to go into is done. Make sure you do something everyday that leads you to your goal.

4. Don't spend your time; invest it.

"Use" your time doing things that will help you achieve your goals. The sheer amount of time we waste doing irrelevant things is simple outrageous.

Before you do anything, ask yourself if it will help you achieve your goals. If it will not, do something that will. There is always a book to read, a seminar to attend, a business to start and so on. Cut your TV habits, sleeping habits, and other time wasting habits. Your time is precious so use it wisely.

5. Be persisitent.

This is very important. A setback during the year should not be allowed to derail you. Being afraid of failure is a sure way to actually fail. There is no shame in failure. It's not being able to get up and bounce back that is shameful. Instead of giving up, learn from your mistakes and move on. Remember experience is the best teacher.

I strongly believe these tips will help you achieve what you want for yourself this year. They are short but power packed. I'll be using them as well and I hope to exchange ideas with you as the year rolls on.

Feel free to drop your comments.
